Spam Junk mail or whatever you call it

June 20th, 2006

Is it just me or is spam easier to spot now?  Maybe it’s because we’re all so used to it by now and we know all the tricks in the book.  Today a spam message coming from @1-800eatshit.com got caught in the spam filtering robot from dreamhost.  How obvious was it that it was spam.

My dreamhost address was really the  only one that was letting spam through.  Yesterday I logged into the control panel and turned on the filtering.  So far it’s been good.  Not one junk message got through yet.  It blocked 6 of them today.

I’ve had good luck with Gmail.  I think that’s your best bet for an e-mail address provider.  You get close to 3GB of storage space, the junk mail filtering is pretty good and you can still set it up through pop3 to download your mail through Outlook or whatever you like to read e-mail with.
