Election Humour

January 18th, 2006

I got this joke via e-mail this week and thought it was pretty funny. I had to share it.

Martin, Harper and Layton are flying on the Executive Airbus to a gathering in British Columbia when Martin turns to Harper and says, chuckling, “You know, I could throw a $1000 bill out the window right now and make someone very happy.” Harper shrugs and replies, “Well, I could throw ten $100 bills out the window and make ten people happy.” Not to be outdone, Layton says, “Well I could throw a hundred $10 bills out the window and make a hundred people happy.” The pilot rolls his eyes and says to his co-pilot, “Such arrogant asses back there. Hell, I could throw all three of them out the window and make 32 million people happy.”

Best Christmas Present Ever!!!

December 25th, 2005

All I can say is WOW! I’ve got the greatest girlfriend in the world.

Also, Jenny and Matt Good are the coolest, most amazing, awesomest people ever!

Jenn went through my Christmas list earlier in November and didn’t really like anything that I had on there. So…..she decided to be a little creative for Christmas this year. What she did was she e-mailed Jenny Good to see if she could send an autographed picture of her and Matt for my Christmas Gift! For those of you who don’t know, I am a huge Matthew Good (and Jenny Good) fan. Jenny Good responded to her right away saying that it wasn’t going to be a problem. Jenn was stoked! She knew it would be the best present ever. I kept telling Jenn that I wanted a 32″ LCD TV for the bedroom and she always said that the gift she got me was way better than that. She even went to the point of saying that if my gift wasn’t better than that LCD TV, she would buy the TV for me, and Jenn doesn’t make much money so I knew that this gift would be awesome for her to say something like that. Well it was true, that gift was way better than an LCD TV. See for yourself.

Thank you Microsoft, $225 profit in less than an hour

December 11th, 2005

As you probably already know Microsoft has released its newest gaming console, the Xbox 360. For those who didn’t pre-order it you probably don’t have it (because they are sold out) or paid a shit load of money for it. Myself, I am not really into video games. I had a regular Xbox but ended up selling because I didn’t use it.

So Friday, I was at the mall with some friends and just for fun we walk into Electronic Boutique to see if we could see the new Xbox. They had it on display but it was turned off. The guy said that they don’t turn it on because people just come in to play it then they leave. I was thinking, isn’t that the point?!! But he said that they didn’t have any in stock so it didn’t really matter. He did mention however that Zellers had gotten 3 in stock that same morning. So we decide to go to Zellers to check it out. Sure enough when we get there they had 2 left. One lady was looking at one so I told the clerk that I wanted the other one. As I was at the cash, paying $575 for this Xbox, Jenn walks up… She wasn’t too impressed that I was buying this thing since I am pretty much broke. After a few minutes of explaining she understood that I was buying it to sell it. Either way, it had a 30 day return policy.

So when I got home I went on a local trading board online. I called one guy who was looking for one. He was debating on whether he wanted it or not. I was asking $800 and he was going to buy one for $750 from another guy but never heard back from him. So I called the next guy that was looking for one. He said yes right away. So I brought it over to him not even 10 minutes after I got off the phone. He had the cash and everthing. So I made $225 profit in less than an hour with the new Xbox 360. Thanks Microsoft! and Zellers!

The funniest part, 5 minutes after I drop off the Xbox, the first guy calls back. He said that he talked it over with his girlfriend and he wanted to buy it. I felt kind of bad for the guy but told him that I had just sold it. If I would of had 2 of them, I could have made $450 in just over an hour. That made my day.

Welcome to the new hosting place for pauly.dreamhosters.com

Like I mentioned earlier, I subscribed for hosting with Dreamhost earlier today. The move went very smooth. Actually I was all done the move in less than an hour. Dreamhost makes it very easy to manage. I exported, modified and imported the MySQL database without a problem. Uploading the files for wordpress was very easy and required very little modification. The only thing that took a little time was the e-mail. At first the e-mail with Dreamhost didn’t work. I waited a few hours and all was ok.

If you haven’t do so, please update your RSS feed to this blog and any bookmarks you might have.

www.paulyblogger.com

November 19th, 2005

Registered www.paulyblogger.com today. I wanted something that was easy to remember.

Right now, I have it setup to do forwarding. The shitty thing is setting it up with Wordpress. I can’t set my site url to www.paulyblogger.com because it’s just setup as a forward at the ISP (yahoo in this case).

One of the things that I noticed that didn’t work when going to www.paulyblogger.com is the login. If you enter your username and password correctly in Internet Explorer it will just bring you back to the login screen. This works fine in Firefox though.

Firefox it is! you can get it here

PHP 4.4.1 installed

November 17th, 2005

Yep, I finally got PHP 4.4.1 installed. It was pretty easy once I figured it out. It turns out that you don’t need to change any lines in the php.ini file for MySQL with PHP 4.4.1. Apparently that only changed in version 5. So all this time it was something silly.

I think I should be able to get Falbum to work by the end of the night. Will let you know when it’s up and running.

Keep it real
