It’s official, the RMK is gone. It will be sadly missed. Especially now that there is tons of snow. I really regret selling it but on the flip side my student loans are now fully paid off. The rest of the money that I got from selling my snowmobile will be used to buy a snow blower because I am getting tired of shoveling my yard. It’s funny how priorities change the older you get. I’m hoping I can find a cheap used sled for under $1000 so I can still go out for little rides or go ice fishing. We’ll see how much show we keep getting in the next few weeks. Today alone we got close to a foot. I haven’t see this much snow so early in forever.

It’s 8AM and I am getting ready to go for a haircut. After my haircut it’s off to the camp where I will bring my snowmobile for the summer and bring back my four wheeler to town. I loaded the sled into the truck last night. I wanted to get that done before all the snow banks melted. There’s no way I could get the sled in there without driving it up some kind of ramp. Way too heavy. I will stay at the camp for supper but not overnight because I want to make it to my running clinic tomorrow morning. We are running 12K. Should be fun.

Well if you’ve been reading my posts you probably know that I was supposed to go snowmobiling with my cousin and we were supposed to go fishing and sleep in the middle of the bush.
It started out like that on Saturday morning. Actually my alarm didn’t go off at 6am when it was supposed to, I woke up at 7:30am after the phone rang a dozen times. Saturday started off pretty bad. We had a hell of a time packing everything into the sleigh. The snowmachine went through the ice when we crossed the ditch. The sleigh tipped over and we lost half of our gear. All of this was even before we got to the gas station where we ate breakfast. Over breakfast we decided not to take the snowmachine out there because it was heating up due to the lack of snow. It was super warm all week then everything froze and everything was ice.
So after breakfast we decided to go back home, take everything we had in the sleigh and put it in the truck. So we didn’t end up going fishing but we did end up going camping. We drove out by the grassy river and camped out right at the bottom of the hill by the creek. I didn’t really want JP to take the truck down there but there wasn’t much snow. Some people might thing we are crazy going camping when it’s -28 celsius or -19 fahrenheit but it was lots of fun. The tent that we were using was made for winter and the sleeping bags were rated for up to -35. We weren’t cold at all, until we got up in the morning. It’s pretty cold getting into a frozen pair of ski pants and jacket when it’s -28 outside.
Anyways here are a few pictures from out trip.

This weekend is going to be extreme outdoor weekend time! I can’t wait! My cousin, JP, and I are taking my snowmachine and sleigh out in the middle of the bush, setting up a tent and fishing all of Saturday. He’s got a winter tent that should be warm enough to sleep in. We also have some pretty good sleeping bags so it shouldn’t be too cold. We are going to the same place that I went 4 wheeling at this summer, Quartz lake by the grassy river. I went to my dad’s place tonight to pickup the sleigh. I will be running around all week to get things as I think of them. I hope there is enough room for everything.

Sunday morning before coming back to Timmins I decided to go to the camp in Cochrane to pickup my RMK. I didn’t think I would have a hard time loading it in the truck but I did. Man that was a pain. I tried using the ramps but the skis would get stuck and the track would spin. I tried driving it up a snowbank into the truck but that wasn’t high enough. So what I ended up doing was making the snowbank bigger. Here I am shovelling snow from the side of the road to make a bigger snowbank to drive my sled into the truck. Finally it worked and I drove back to Timmins. I’m glad I went to get it because I will be so busy in the next couple weeks. Too bad it’s raining now, we had enough snow to go for a little ride.
