Welcome

April 5th, 2006

Yesterday I got a phone call at work.  It was the lady who lost the envelope full of money.  She was so happy that I turned the money in, she kept asking if she could do anything for me.  It turns out the money was from her dissability pension for the entire month.  What happened is she cashed in her cheque but there was a difference of $400 from the previous month.  She was so shocked that she was getting $400 less that she ended up leaving the money on the ledge of the bank machine unknowingly.  She is going to write a letter to the editor this week so I’ll have to watch for that.  Nice to see that people are so appreciative.  I know I would be the same way if I lost that kind of money and someone turned it in.

The Cash Is Back

April 3rd, 2006

As you already know I found a lot of money by the bank machine on Saturday, $960 to be exact.  Today I brought it back.

I looked up what time the bank opened at online and dropped by shortly after 10AM.  I spoke to the person at the information desk to see if a deposit was missing from the bank machine.  Since the bank had just opened they didn’t know yet because they didn’t empty the deposits.  So I gave them my name and number in case someone forgot to put in the envelope when they made a deposit.   Shortly after noon I called into the office to check my voicemail since I was at a clients all morning and there was a message from the bank.  I called them back and they said that the police were in there asking if anyone had found an envelope with nine hundred and some dollars in it.  The bank gave me the contact number for the officer in charge.  I tried calling but got his voice mail so I went to the police station to drop off the money so they can give it back to the rightful owner.  The officer in charge was on lunch so I spoke with his superior.  He counted the money, asked me a few questions on where and when I found it.

I could just imagine how worried the person who lost the money must have been. I would be freaking out.

I didn’t think they would have noticed it because the money was in a deposit envelope.  I thought they just forgot to put it in the machine walked away.  I figured the bank would of been the first to know and called the customer.  By the looks of things that wasn’t what happen because the police knew before the bank.  I didn’t even think of calling the police.  I just thought of calling the bank but they were closed until today and probably couldn’t have done anything anyways.

One important thing here, if you find something that is not yours try your best to find the rightful owner back.  I’m sure you would appreciate it if you were on the flip side.

I’ve had enough

March 30th, 2006

I need to let it all out.  I am so frustrated with my living arrangements right now I would do anything to be able to move from here.  Every day when I get home from work all I smell is cat piss and dog shit.  This place is so filthy.  I don’t understand how people can’t clean up after their pets.  If you’re responsible enough to own a pet you should be responsible enough to clean up after it.  It’s gotten to the point where there is so much dog shit all over the place I don’t see how the other tenants can leave their apartments without stepping in it.  Their dogs just crap all over the place and they never clean it up.  It’s worse now because all the snow is melting and you see the crap all over the place.  Tonight I drove around town looking at some houses that I saw on the internet.  There are a few that look nice so I called my realtor.  The one I really was impressed with already has an offer on it.  My realtor told me that if it fell through he would let me know.  At this point I will take pretty much anything whether it’s an apartment or a house.  I called some lady about a week and a half ago about a house she was trying to rent or sell.  She said it was already rented but she wanted to sell it.  She was going to call me when the renovations were done this week so I can go see it but when I called her tonight she told me it was already sold.  So that really sucks.  All the houses that I am interested in are either already sold or not on the market.  My realtor told me that the house I put an offer on last year might be coming back on the market soon if the guy buys the house he is looking at.  So that’s interesting.  I think if it hits the market again I will put an offer right away.  It’s a pretty small house (less than 700 sq. feet) but it has a nice 14X24 garage.  The layout of the house is quite nice too and could accommodate our needs for the next 10 years at least.  At the end of the day, whatever you are paying on a house is 100 times better than what you are wasting on rent.  Hopefully I find something soon…I need to get out of this place.

Kicked Some Ass at Sonic!

February 5th, 2006

Well yesterday I bought an Xbox (just the regular one).  You might ask why I would do such thing because I sold my old Xbox since I never used it.  Well the reason why I bought it was because I can use it to access music, videos, pictures, and recorded tv from my Media Center PC.  I was going to buy the Linksys Media Extender ($300) but instead I got an Xbox ($200) and the Media Extender for Xbox ($65) and it does the same thing, and I get an Xbox out of the deal!  So yesterday we got carried away and bought some games for it as well.  The best one is Sonic the Hedgehog!!  It has all of the Sonic games from Sega.  I remember playing that in the 90’s on my brothers Sega Genisis!  It was awesome!  Another game that I bought was Torino 2006 and it super sucks. I played it for 5 mins and turned it off!  That one was a waste of money.

Karaoke tonight

January 28th, 2006

Tonight we went to The Zoo in South Porcupine for karaoke. I though this place was going to be lame, and it was, but I actually enjoyed it (if that makes sence). Jenn’s parents came with us and her sister wimped out since she went out yesterday. I wasn’t brave enough to go up and sing a song, I need to practice before I do, so I don’t make a fool outta my self. That or get really drunk and sing anyways since I wouldn’t really care. I think I will just sit it out for now. I made a big enough fool out of myself on my 20th birthday when I attempted to sing Billie Jean when I was smashed.

Have you ever been wasted and went up to sing karaoke?

Pizza Hut + Running = Not good

January 19th, 2006

That was a bad idea.

My dad called me just before 6:30pm tonight to see if we wanted to meet up with him and his gf at Pizza Hut. As dumb as I am, I said yeah sure. I knew we had to go to our running clinic at 7:30pm but I didn’t seem to care. So at Pizza Hut we had ceasar salad, chicken wings, cheese sticks, and pizza of course. At about 7:15pm we fly out of there and come home to get changed for running. We made it to the running clinic on time. So we start running. All was fine for the first kilometer…. Then I started getting killer cramps. A couple times I had to walk and even stop. About 3/4 of the way through the run I couldn’t handle it anymore so I ran into the fire hall and asked them if I could use their washroom. I’m so happy there was someone there. I think I would of shat in my spandex if I would of kept going. The rest of the run was a lot better.

Now, I still feel sick…..but I learned a valuable lesson. Don’t eat and run! Too bad I had to learn this one the hard way.

It’s already 11:15pm and I still didn’t pack for Ottawa. 6am is going to come so fast. I get to pack tomorrow morning, Yuck!

Troubleshooting with no hints = not fun

January 17th, 2006

I’m not sure if you’ve ever had to troubleshoot something without any clues…let me tell you, it’s not fun. My main server keeps crashing on me. Just out of the blue, everyone on the network can’t access any network drives, applications, and their Outlook tells them they are offline. Nothing works, the only thing they can do is surf the internet, which is weird because ISA is configured to go through that same server. So technically, they are going though that server to get to the internet. The worse part is the event viewer doesn’t tell me what the problem is. There are no errors or nothing. In the next few days we will be installing some diagnostic software to try and find the problem. I think it has to be a software issue.

Winter Camping

January 15th, 2006

Well if you’ve been reading my posts you probably know that I was supposed to go snowmobiling with my cousin and we were supposed to go fishing and sleep in the middle of the bush.

It started out like that on Saturday morning. Actually my alarm didn’t go off at 6am when it was supposed to, I woke up at 7:30am after the phone rang a dozen times. Saturday started off pretty bad. We had a hell of a time packing everything into the sleigh. The snowmachine went through the ice when we crossed the ditch. The sleigh tipped over and we lost half of our gear. All of this was even before we got to the gas station where we ate breakfast. Over breakfast we decided not to take the snowmachine out there because it was heating up due to the lack of snow. It was super warm all week then everything froze and everything was ice.

So after breakfast we decided to go back home, take everything we had in the sleigh and put it in the truck. So we didn’t end up going fishing but we did end up going camping. We drove out by the grassy river and camped out right at the bottom of the hill by the creek. I didn’t really want JP to take the truck down there but there wasn’t much snow. Some people might thing we are crazy going camping when it’s -28 celsius or -19 fahrenheit but it was lots of fun. The tent that we were using was made for winter and the sleeping bags were rated for up to -35. We weren’t cold at all, until we got up in the morning. It’s pretty cold getting into a frozen pair of ski pants and jacket when it’s -28 outside.

Anyways here are a few pictures from out trip.

Friday the 13th

January 13th, 2006

Well I am sure you’ll find the same topic in a lot of blogs today. The reason why I am writing about Friday the 13th is because it really sucked! TYou hear of all kinds of things like, don’t walk under a ladder or don’t cross a black cat. I think all of that is crap. What I do believe however is that your day can still go wrong. I guess it’s just like any other day really. To make a long story short, the server at work crashed twice today. Once right before lunch and the second right before closing. The worse part is there isn’t any trace of why it stopped responding. I hate troubleshooting when there aren’t have any hints. Look on the bright side, tomorrow is the 14th, and that’s a Saturday. I’m going fishing and camping in the middle of nowhere…….no servers crashing there.

Extreme Outdoor Weekend

January 10th, 2006

This weekend is going to be extreme outdoor weekend time! I can’t wait! My cousin, JP, and I are taking my snowmachine and sleigh out in the middle of the bush, setting up a tent and fishing all of Saturday. He’s got a winter tent that should be warm enough to sleep in. We also have some pretty good sleeping bags so it shouldn’t be too cold. We are going to the same place that I went 4 wheeling at this summer, Quartz lake by the grassy river. I went to my dad’s place tonight to pickup the sleigh. I will be running around all week to get things as I think of them. I hope there is enough room for everything.
