So what happens when you get screwed on eBay?

April 21st, 2006

It’s the first time it’s happend to me. I got screwed on 2 items that I bought from the same bastard on eBay. In February I bought 2 posters (this one and this one) on eBay. I paid the $31US, and waited for them to arrive. A few weeks went by so I decided to e-mail him to see what’s the status of the shipping. He replied saying that he was in the process of moving and all the items would be arriving soon. So I waited some more. I figured I would get the posters anyday. This was 2 months ago now! Last week I decided to file a complaint with Paypal since they are the ones I used to transfer him the money. I always noticed the little caption on all the Paypal auctions saying that you are protected for up to $1250 CAN. Today I found out it’s crap! Here is the response from Paypal….notice the bold text.

“PayPal has concluded the investigation of your buyer claim.As our policy states, we conducted this investigation on a best effort basis and made no guarantee of funds recovery.Complaint Details

Multiple Item Auctions (Dutch Auctions) are covered as a single transaction.

We value your business and regret that you have had this experience. To avoid similar experiences in the future, we recommend that you read our Security Tips on our website located at: https://www.paypal.com/buyertips

PayPal, an eBay Company “

When I got that e-mail I was effing pissed that they advertised the hell out of how safe Paypal is and they can’t even get back my $31 back!

I went to check the sellers rating right after and it looks like I wasn’t the only one he did this too lately. So tonight I filled a complaint with eBay directly. Not sure what will come from that but I sure as hell won’t let the bastards (Paypal and Kevin Beyer) take my money without a fight. I think I will also give CIBC Visa a call tomorrow to see what they can do. What a waste of time.

That’s how easy it is to get screwed on eBay and there isn’t too much you can do about it. Too bad it wasn’t as easy to get the money back, like Paypal makes it look.

Another Rock Star Reality TV Show?

March 14th, 2006

Auditions begin today for the new Rock Star reality show. The Star is giving ideas on which band you might be auditioning for and tips on what to take into consideration;

Queen: Shop for tightest pants you can possibly fit into, then buy pair two sizes smaller than that. The pain helps with hitting the high notes.

Van Halen: Work on yowling. Practise grins, leers and high kicks in the mirror. Vocal range nearly as high as Queen’s could be useful, but hint of gravel (or tequila damage) in voice is welcome. Look like you’re having more fun than anyone alive but accept that in the modern world, no job is permanent.

Camp Freddy: Show producers promise an all-star supergroup, and this low-profile L.A. project — featuring Rock Star host Dave Navarro and friends from Jane’s Addiction and the Cult — sort of fits the bill. Any vocal style could do with this amorphous jam band, but you’ll need a dark, jaded demeanour; try to project history of drug abuse. Tattoos help.

Tommy Lee: The hot rumour (tinyurl.com/krvj7 has details). See Camp Freddy for hints, but be more lighthearted. Prepare to play along with rock’s famed man-child; make sure singing does not obscure thumping of one of rock’s better drummers. Several topics off-limits; you know what they are.

Joy Division: Pasty-voiced Bernard Sumner has sung like he wants to fade back into the background ever since Ian Curtis’s 1980 suicide forced a recalibration into New Order, and gossip has it he and fellow survivors will be recording new material for an upcoming Curtis biopic. The stage could be set for anyone capable of lamenting the state of his life in a joyless baritone whilst rocking spastic-robot dance moves. Penchant for early self-destruction an asset. For a while.

Bye Jenny Good

March 13th, 2006

It’s official, Jennifer Good (www.jennifergood.net) is calling it quits. Today her site said nothing but “No web site is configured at this address.” Last week she indicated to readers that she was “kind of over blogging”

“I’m kind of over blogging. I really don’t know what direction I want to go in right now with regards to my content, but I am certainly sick of painting this partygirl image of myself. I took my tongue ring and belly piercing out. I feel too old for them. I’ve been having an age crisis as of late. Melissa and I went to the bar in Boulder where we referred to ourselves as “cougars” as everyone in there was most definitely not legal.”

I sent an e-mail to Jenny this afternoon, in her reply;

“yes, unfortunately the bloggie blog is gone. I’m over it for right now - might resume in a couple of months.”

I’m hoping it’s a temporary thing, after all she did indicate that she was working on a huge project…

I’ve been keeping myself really busy lately with a huge project. Very much looking forward to launching it. Stay tuned and maybe, just maybe I’ll let you in on our little secret.

Imagine Infinite Space?

March 8th, 2006

Well it might happen sooner than you thing.  Google is talking about releasing yet another service for web users.  This time it would allow users to store infinite amounts of data on Googles servers.  Google is calling it GDrive.  When will we see it?  Who knows?  I’m sure they are trying to find ways around slow internet speed first.  Imagine trying to watch a DVD movie stored on your GDrive?

Do your Windows Updates….. if you don’t have a Mac

January 7th, 2006

A critical Windows update has been release by Microsoft on January 5th, 2006 to patch a vulnerability which allows hackers to embed malicious software into image files. The malware can infect your computer with viruses, worms, spyware and steal sensitive information or seriously mess up your computer. Without the patch, you can infect your computer by simply visiting a website and clicking on these images.

It’s too bad none of these viruses did something productive like speed up your computer, clean up the house, or make you supper. If that was the case, I guess I woudn’t have a job

Fore more info on this critical Windows update (KB912919) click here or go to the Microsoft Update site.

MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL THIS UPDATE.

Welcome to the new hosting place for pauly.dreamhosters.com

Like I mentioned earlier, I subscribed for hosting with Dreamhost earlier today. The move went very smooth. Actually I was all done the move in less than an hour. Dreamhost makes it very easy to manage. I exported, modified and imported the MySQL database without a problem. Uploading the files for wordpress was very easy and required very little modification. The only thing that took a little time was the e-mail. At first the e-mail with Dreamhost didn’t work. I waited a few hours and all was ok.

If you haven’t do so, please update your RSS feed to this blog and any bookmarks you might have.
