It’s official, I bought a new truck. Well technically it’s not new but it’s new to me. I bought my dad’s truck. It’s a 98 Chev Silverado with only 114,000 kms on it. He never drove it during the winter so it’s in perfect shape. Not one spec of rust on it. It should last me for a little while.
This also means that my 96 Civic (a.k.a. “my baby”) needs to go. I put it for sale last night and I think I might have found it a new home. I hate to let it go but I don’t want to be paying insurance on 3 cars. I just put in a bunch of money in repairs lately which kind of sucks but I’m glad to know that someone else will enjoy it.
Everything should be finalized by the end of the week.

Car, civic, truck
Ever since I got rid of my truck in December of last year I’ve regretted it. I miss being able to throw something as simple as a can of gas in the box and going to fill it up. Now with only having a car I need to be careful that none of the gas spills in the trunk or in the back seat.
I thought that having a small trailer would be fine but my old 96 Civic just doesn’t do it on trips outside of town. After all it is a 96 and it has over 232k on it. I was thinking of putting a trailer hitch on my 08 Civic but I’ve decided against it.
So now, I have been looking around for a good price on a used truck but the truth is they are all expensive. I mean most of the time you can get something new for pretty close to the same as a used one. The nice part of buying new is that you get a warranty. I want something with a warranty. I don’t want to be forking out tons of money in repairs.
I was checking out the GMC Sierra pictured above. They have it on special at a dealer a few hours away from here for $26,998. That would be perfect for me. Crew cab, 4.8L, Air, Cruise, Tilt, 4×4, i’m happy with that. I don’t need something overly fancy because I would only use it around town and to put my bike and sled in when I go to the camp.
I need to think about this some more. It’s too bad I am still paying for my 08 Civic because I would run out to buy this truck right away.
